Private Percy Pomfret

Private Percy Pomfret, 3rd Battalion, Coldstream Guards. He died from the effects of gas poisoning in France on 18th January 1918, aged 21. He was the son of Edwin and Lilias Adeline Pomfret of Berwick-upon-Tweed and is commemorated on the Arras Memorial, Arras, France. At that time the Battalion were holding front line trenches near Monchy in the Arras sector. Before enlisting he had been employed on the Haggerston Estate near Berwick-upon-Tweed.
