Lance Corporal William Lockie

Lance Corporal William Lockie. 1st Battalion, Cameron Highlanders. He was killed in action in Belgium, aged 29, on 5th November 1914 during the First Battle of Ypres. He had been born in Sprouston and was the son of Andrew and Ellen Lockie of Blainslie, Lauder.  He had been a Regular soldier and as a Reservist he was recalled to the Colours in August 1914 joining his Battalion in France in September 1914. He is buried at Tyne Cot, Zonnebeke, Flanders, Belgium. The photographs and illustrations show British troops during the Battle.
