Erected by JESSIE McMICHAEL in loving memory of ALEXANDER WOOD her husband who died 16^th June 1910 aged 45 years. Also HUGH their son who was killed in France 23rd August 1918 aged 21 years. Also JESSIE their daughter who died 22^nd November 1918 aged 9 years. Also JESSIE CRAIG McMICHAEL wife of the above ALEXANDER WOOD who died 24^th August 1965 in her 92^nd year. Also ADAM DUNLOP WOOD son of the above who died 18^th February 1986 aged 84 years.

Military record

Private Hugh Wood ,10th Battalion ,Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. He was killed in action on 23rd August 1918, aged 21, during the “Advance To Victory” He had been born in Coldstream and was the son of Alexander and Jessie Wood of Coldstream. He is commemorated on the Vis-en-Artois Memorial, Pas de Calais, France.

Commentary

Alexander Wood was born at Coldstream, he was a cow feeder and lived at 8 Market Place. Wife Jessie Craig McMichael was born at New Cannock, Ayrshire
