Erected by JAMES DODDS in loving memory of MARY his daughter who died at Coldstream 16th September 1884 aged 27 years. Also ROBERT CRANSON his son who died in infancy. Also the above JAMES DODDS who died 7th February 1899 aged 65 years. Also PHILLIS CRANSON his wife who died 2nd November 1919 aged 84 years

Commentary

When James Dods was born on 24 October 1833 in Stitchel, Roxburghshire, his father, Peter, was 30 and his mother, Galasina, was 23. He married Phillis Cranston on 12 February 1855 in Scotland. They had seven children in 14 years. He died in 1905 at the age of 72

James JDodd was born in 1870 in Coldstream, Berwickshire, to Phillis Cranston, age 35, and James Dods, age 37.

When James Dodd and his twin sister Jane were born in 1870 in Coldstream, Berwickshire, their father, James, was 37, and their mother, Phillis, was 35. He had two brothers and four sisters.
