In loving memory of JOHN McDOUGAL Merchant Coldstream who died 17^th August 1914 aged 63 years.

Also ALEXANDER ERNEST Lieut. 10/11^th H.L.I. younger son of the above wounded at Bullecourt died in hospital Rouen 20^th February 1918 aged 28 years. Buried in St Server cemetery Rouen.

Also ROBERT elder son of the above who died 7^th April 1924 aged 44 years.

Also MARY MEIKLE wife of the above JOHN McDOUGAL who died 22^nd June 1938 aged 89 years.

Also AGNES ANNABELLA McALPINE daughter of the above JOHN McDOUGAL who died 31^st May 1959 aged 72 years.

Mary McDougall was born in Eccles Berwickshire

Lieutenant Alexander McDougal, 10/11th Battalion, Highland Light Infantry. He died of wounds in France on 20th February 1918 aged 27 and is buried in St Sever Cemetery, Rouen, France. He was the son of John and Mary McDougal of Leet Villa, Coldstream who ran a grocery shop in the Market Square, Coldstream. ( Meikle and McDougal ). In October 1914 he had enlisted in the Royal Engineers and was then commissioned into the Highland Light Infantry in May 1915 and had seen much action including the Somme in 1916. At school he was a good rugby player and played in the wing three quarter position. As a player with Kelso Rugby Football Club he was in the winning Seven at the Langholm Sevens of 1914. He was also a keen motorist.
