Erected by JAMES TROTTER In memory of MARION MITCHELL his beloved wife who died at Lennel Hill 6^th April 1895 aged 40 years.

Also ELLEN his daughter who died in infancy.

Also the above JAMES TROTTER who died at  Wark on the 9^th October 1904 aged 49 years.,

Commentary

Born in Roxburghshire Parents Father Willim Trotter mother Ann Knox. James worked on various farms in Berwickshire, Mersington,Mains Farm Chirnside, Leitholm, Darnchester, Lochrig and Mindrum and died in Wark. He married Marion Mitchell from Lauder at one time lived at the Toll House at Fireburn Mill Coldstream.
