Erected to the memory of MARGARET UMPHERSTONE who died at Coldstream 17th March 1877 aged 81 years.

Also ISABELLA UMPHERSTONE who died 21st May 1884 aged 81 years.

Commentary

Margaret Umpherstone was born at Longformacus, occupation ‘at home’ and lived at Duns Lane, Hatfield. Isabella sister appears to have been unmarried and was born in 1796 at Langton, Berwickshire, occupation Farm Servant. An Alexander was born in 1797, at Langton, occupation Farm Servant. Also living in the house is George Ford, nephew, born 1834, occupation Farm Servant. And another nephew, Robert Umpherstone, was born in 1847 at Swinton
