Erected by ALEXANDER JOHNSTON Boot Maker Coldstream in memory of his mother HELEN PENNY who died 20 May 1837 aged 41 years. Also his father WILLIAM JOHNSTON who died 24 March 1842 aged 49 years. Also JANET SWANSTON wife of ALEXANDER JOHNSTON who died 14 July 1867 aged 32 years. Also of the above ALEXANDER JOHNSTON who died 1 June 1873 aged 51 years

Commentary

Alexander lived in New Coldstream then moved into Coldstream he was a Shoemaker employing 3 men. He was born in Coldstream and lived on the High Street.
