In loving memory of JOHN ELLIOT who died Coldstream 11th July 1951 aged 74 years. Wife ISABELLA FOSTER HUME who died 21st May 1954 aged 75 years.

“She was the eldest daughter of Thomas Hume, the miller at Lees Mill, Coldstream and they married in 1905”.

Commentary

He was initially the Sanitary Inspector then Burgh Surveyor for the town for 30 years from 1919 to 1950. He also ran a joiners business which traded under the name of ‘White and Elliot’, Luke’s Lane, Coldstream which had been established in 1877 by his father William Elliot.
