In affectionate remembrance of JOHN STRAUGHAN who died at New Harper Ridge, 7th (Dec ?) 1879, aged 76 years.

“Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord”

Also JAMES STRAUGHAN youngest son of the above who died 5th Feby. 1888 aged 37 years.  Also of ANN, wife of the above JOHN STRAUGHAN who died at Ewart, 24th Decr. 1897 aged 92 years.

Commentary

John born in Norham as was his wife Ann. He was a Blacksmith at Twizell in 1851 and Cornhill in 1861.
